In August 2024, I went on a week-long road trip through Bavaria with my friend Lennart, who also did all the driving. Coming from northern Germany, we had our own ideas and clichés about the south and joked that Bavaria was the “German Texas.” It was a warm summer, and being far away from home felt liberating. Whenever we came across a town or place that caught our interest, we split up, took photographs all day, and met again in the evening.
I’m not sure what these pictures mean, and I haven’t looked at them in a while. If they are about anything, they reflect where I was in the summer of 2024—trying to pay attention and to approach an unfamiliar place with an open mind.
